God doesn't give us our precious children because we're 'enough' for them.He doesn't entrust us with another soul in confidence that we can keep it together ourselves. We can exhale this hope: we don't have to pretend to be anything other than what we are-needy children held by a forever faithful Father.
Am I Enough?
This quote speaks to a very regular
topic in my prayerful conversations
with the Lord— as someone who
has always (since I was a little girl)
believed that I will never be enough.
And that perspective, when seen
and held through the lens of my trauma,
will always emphasize my inadequacy
in a way that cripples me.
But — when it's held through the lens
of Biblical truth, I'm able to reframe
it all and say, Lord, it's true— in my
own human frailty, I am not enough.
But the fuller truth here is that I was never meant to be.
it is in realizing that that exposes the
actual lie— it's not necessarily
that "I will never be enough”-
Though that is also true, in this
context (and what the enemy
would love for me to dwell on)
But more so, the lie is that I would
believe and succumb to the
unrelenting and unrealistic pressure to
be enough in the first place,
as though it were ever a burden
my Creator meant for me to bear.
Part of my personal lens of truth that I'm
trying to put before me throughout my
days is that it is IN OUR WEAKNESS
that His power is perfected.
2 Corinthians 12:9
Not in our striving for perfection.
Not in taking it all upon ourselves and
becoming our own gods. It is in Him
and Him alone that weak is made strong.
2 Corinthians. 12:10
That we could rise up on wings like
eagles— to run and not grow weary.
Isaiah 40:31
Let's seek Him today, friends.
In our motherhood, in our marriage, our friendships, our work, our thoughts.
"Some trust in chariots and some
in horses, but we trust in the name
of the Lord our God."
